Abstract or Description

This article discusses the work of Collier Schorr, Anna Gaskell and Sarah Jones, in particular their use of the youthful body and their focus on portraiture, through a revised interpretation of Judith Butler’s concept of performativity. Catherine Grant argues: 'By looking at the work of these three photographers I want to argue that their portraits create uneasy viewing through the use of a more weighted concept of performativity where “difference” counts'.
