Abstract or Description

The 'Eternally Yours' initiative (and this chapter - co-authored by Fletcher and Tham, both at Goldsmiths at the time) became internationally renowned, being at the forefront of sustainable design. Tham and Fletcher's 'Lifetimes project' (completed 2004) contributed a unique and significant part of this project. Many of the, then, current approaches to Life Cycle Analysis tended to seek a rather linear and therefore oversimplified model of product use. By exploring the rhythm or metabolism of clothes usage, Tham and Fletcher were able to define more complex, sophisticated strategies for environmental improvement.
