Abstract or Description

One day course given for Cabaret Voltaire art foundation students.

What does it mean to ‘understand’ music history? In this one-day course we will examine the history of music since 1900 in four different ways. Our goal will be to understand the ways that creative practices have developed over time. But we will also examine the ways that explanations given for those developments have been shaped by social, cultural and political trends.
