Abstract or Description

This article offers a tribute to the critic and cultural theorist Professor Stuart Hall who died on Monday 10th February, 2014. Through personal recollections and correspondence it argues that we best honour Stuart Hall's memory by following his example as a generous intellect, radical thinker and committed teacher. In contrast to the status-obsessed nature of contemporary academic culture, Stuart Hall's life offers us an alternative path to follow in the vocation of thinking and learning.
