Abstract or Description

The central aspects of art therapy are the creative image making process and the facilitating environment which is provided by the relationship with the art therapist. This presentation will elucidate this process through examples and stories of Jill's clinical experience as an art therapist in adult psychiatry in the UK and as an art therapy educator at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. It will cover theories that under pin art therapy practice and discuss the challenges and approaches of this work. It will also include reflections on the way context effects the development of practice. In particular consideration about how art therapy is evolving in Australia and how it may be relevant to the context in Taiwan.
