Abstract or Description

'Impromptu' is a short story that explores how irrational emotions can disrupt a dispassionate scientific mindset - as we follow the narrator dissecting his unexpected feelings: "But why did I cry at this?" after watching a scene from Michael Haneke's film 'Amour' which subtly links to his flashback of a traumatic scene in the science lab: buried, but hauntingly present. The story is a meditations upon memory and selfhood, offering wise insights into messy human lives.
