Abstract or Description

Workshop on the use of Chekhov Technique for the Young Vic Directors Programme.

This workshop will introduce directors to the use and integration of Michael Chekhov technique in directing practice, particularly for devised theatre and adaptation. The use of Chekhov technique in UK theatre practice has experienced a wave of interest over recent years, and is increasingly being incorporated into conservatoire actor training programmes. Directors will be practically introduced to key aspects of the technique such as movement qualities and objective atmosphere, as well as to the notion of catalyst direction as a means to facilitate sustainable forms of ensemble collaboration.

Led by Cass Fleming and members of the collective.
