Abstract or Description:

A four-year research partnership between SKOR/Foundation for Art and the Public Domain, the Netherlands and Andrea Phillips. Initiated by Phillips and SKOR Director Fulya Erdemci, this research project results in art commissions, research platforms, publications and public symposia that examine the social role of art within the construction of publics.

Symposia are accompanied by artists' commissions as well as film programmes and research platforms.

In 2010 Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset were commissioned to remake an installation from The Welfare Show to coincide with the symposium Speculations on the Cultural Organisation of Civility.

In 2011 the artists collectives Ultra-red and Chto Delat? were commissioned to collaborate on a Learning Play which was performed on the first evening of the symposium Social Housing–Housing the Social.

In 2011, the Yes Men were invited to collaborate on a workshop to produce direct action on issues of social housing in the Netherlands, which was manifest just before the symposium Social Housing–Housing the Social.

Social Housing-Housing the Social: Art, Property and Spatial Justice, the second Actors, Agents and Attendants publication, will be launched as part of Documenta 13 in Kassel, Germany, June 2012.

Actors, Agents and Attendants will continue its third stage as part of the Istanbul Biennial 2013.
