Abstract or Description:

'Wot? No Fish!!' is a critically acclaimed, award-winning solo show by theatre-maker and academic Danny Braverman. It won the Brian Way Playwriting Award (2013) and was named as one of Lyn Gardner's Top Ten shows in The Guardian (2014). It has toured extensively throughout the world, including to major festivals in Australia, China and Europe.

In 1926 shoemaker Ab Solomons drew a doodle on the wage-packet he gave to his wife Celie. Throughout their marriage, right up until 1982, Ab developed his art, drawing a wage-packet cartoon every week for Celie. These cartoons chronicle Ab and Celie’s family life, through ups and downs, with great wit and warmth and with a blistering honesty.

Danny Braverman’s solo show tells the funny and moving story of how he discovered the lost art of his Great-uncle Ab. Wot? No Fish!! is an extraordinary story about love, art, history …and catering.
