Abstract or Description

A discussion between curator Helena Reckitt and artist Sarah Pucill about her photographic works and film Magic Mirror that are exhibited alongside photographs by French Surrealist artist Claude Cahun in the Nunnery Gallery’s 2015 In Dialogue season. This year-long programme explores partnerships, artistic inspirations and relationships between the artist and the muse.

Reckitt and Pucill discuss her interpretation of Cahun’s photographs via restaging, and her visualization of written text from herbook Aveux non avenus (Disavowals), processes that transform Cahun’s work from still to moving image, and that explore the relationship between word, photography and sound in film.
