Abstract or Description

The essay describes culture+conflict as always already a form of becoming—a kind of assemblage—and importantly, a becoming that has already begun. It draws on China Miéville’s novel, The City & the City, as well as on Derrida, Nancy, Arendt and Gilbert Simondon's notion of the Guimbal turbine to argue that assemblages have an operational autonomy that activates a potentiality of forces realised as public encounters.
