Abstract or Description: | Water - colour is a body of research concerned with the use and degradation of ‘invisible’ resources connected to textile and garment production. The scope of the research collects data from the macro practices of farming textiles fibres, dyeing and transportation of cloth/garments, to the micro practices of washing clothes. In this, the first iteration the work presented for London Design Festival 2013, I responded to a site that used to be a laundry and is now a multi purpose development containing, homes, studios, and retail. The question then was how to engage the regular users of this space in the building’s history, in connection to the concerns of the research. |
