Abstract or Description

The essay 'Strangling the Parrot', which takes its title from the translation from French of a phrase referring to the imbibing of absinthe, is a perambulation through the queer ecological entanglements of Carl Gent's work, involving wormwood, experimental cultures of intoxication, and art nouveau. The book Felon Herb is a continuation of an earlier project at KELDER by Carl Gent titled Multiplex. Borrowing from the format of a traditional exhibition catalogue, Felon Herb is a compilation of documentary material and newly commissioned essays and poems by Rebecca Bligh, Ros Gray and Angus Sinclair.
