Abstract or Description

This keynote speech explores how subjectivity as a phenomenon is implicitly implicated in the wider identity of the ecology. Knowledge comes from our experience of being of the world, rather than looking into the world from the outside and this experience manifests in relational moving bodies of all kinds. Being of the world is to be part of all matter and all matter matters. I will explore how Dance Movement psychotherapy can be informed by ecopsychotherapy and can take place both inside or out. What is crucial is to develop ways of listening and ways of prompting clients to remember their earth stories as part of the process of fostering empathy and kinship. As individuals and as a species, we are dependent on each other as well as on the health of the earth. In turn, the health of the earth is dependent on human behaviour. This talk will identify the intra-connections b etween of moving bodies and environmental justice and how these come together in Dance Movement Psychotherapy.
