Abstract or Description

Notes on Fashion Constellations, is a written reflection of an ongoing project, Fashion Constellations. The project was conceived and has evolved through our teaching together in the Design Department since 2014. It involves the unpicking of clothing as a process to unpick the fashion system.

The article features in The Fashion Studies Journal issue on Partnership and Togetherness, and highlights the often difficult conversations had as students begin asking questions about undoing the fashion system while “unpicking” clothing and remaking it into something new.

The Fashion Studies Journal is an online platform that invites submissions that go against the grain of traditional academic scholarship in fashion led by a group of academics and practitioners in USA.
