Abstract or Description

This paper explores the act of turning, questions of orientation, loyalty, recognition, and how they produce different spaces and territories. Looking at the practice of Rehabilitation in relation to the Kenyan Land and Freedom Army, during the so-called 'Mau Mau' rebellion in the 1950s, contemporary 'Divergence and Desistance' programmes and the ideology of 'pre-crime' under the Prevent Programme in the UK, the paper explores the micropolitics of 'turning' insurgents and how these acts attempt to redraw subjects and territories in ongoing colonial practices.
