Abstract or Description

Traces the lives of Black Settlers in early Greenwich of the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, from Cornelius the blackamore of Lee in 1593 to dying lascars in the summer of 1796 and in doing so uncovers and reinterprets an important dimension of Greenwich's local history.
