March 2022 will see the public launch of In words alas drown I (2020 -2030), part of a solo exhibition (No Escape) at IMT Gallery, London; it is a single cask whisky currently maturing in Scotland to be sold in an etched bottle from 2030+ that charts the ten year tipping point laid out by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2020. It extends research begun into the commodification of end times with our Apocalypse perfume.
Apocalypse is a complex fragrance based on olfactory materials detailed in The Book Of Revelation as it appears in the King James Bible first published in 1611. We established our list of terms from the book and then worked in collaboration with perfumer Euan McCall to develop this chemical depiction of biblical end times. The perfume exists in a limited edition of only fifty 100ml bottles each boxed with signed inserts and with a label design by Steve Carroll. A secondary scent associated with material decay is also sprayed into each box lining.
Apocalypse extends the limits of our longstanding research in exploring new models of documentary practice, while using instructional art methods to explore new ways of working with time-based media (in this case a durational, chemical depiction of a book of the Bible).

Apocalypse premiered as part of a major solo exhibition Party Booby Trap at Carroll/Fletcher Gallery, London in 2016. Subsequently it has been shown in two solo exhibitions held in USA (Wake me up when it’s over, Young Projects, Los Angeles, 2017 and The Academy of Saturn, Cooley Gallery, Portland, Oregon) and also a series of international group exhibitions; Occulture, City Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand (2017); Life Time-Biological Clocks of the Universe, MU, Eindhoven (2017/2018); Humans Being Digital, The Lowry, Manchester (2018); and Anytime Now, TENT, Rotterdam (2018) and at Frieze New York (2018).

Apocalypse and In words alas drown I extends research begun into the commodification of end times . The project runs from 2016- 2030.
