Abstract or Description

This book brings together the collected scripts of Janice Kerbel, written over the past ten years. Works include: 'Nick Silver Can't Sleep', a radio play for insomniacs (2007); 'Kill the Workers', a play for lights (2010); 'Ballgame', a play for single voice (2009–12); and 'Doug', a song cycle for six voices (2014). While each of the texts have been developed into individual performances that have been exhibited and performed internationally, this collection brings Kerbel's writing to the forefront and considers the language of notation as a form in and of itself. It is this very notion that lies at the heart of Kerbel’s practice.
