An overview of bad music played on vinyl records. In this case, “bad” refers to misguided ideas, talentless ambition, incompetent, weird, incomprehensible, malevolent, misbehaving music. This material is treated as a kind of musical unconscious, a return of the repressed that serves as symptom of musical malaise.
Some of the music is a symptom of the illness underlying US suburban willed isolation from the rest of the world. It challenges, malevolently, this self-image of safe and devout dwelling. It is the musical inverse to self-righteousness.
