Abstract or Description

In this article I elaborate on the agency and role of women in India’s Maoist movement. I argue that although narratives of ‘victimhood’ are crucial to capturing the role of women in political violence, they neglect agency and activism of violent and militant women. Using narratives of women in India's Maoist movement, I emphasise that a revised feminist 'security' perspective remains necessary to understand the role of women in the current Maoist movement and the agency of militant women worldwide.
