Abstract or Description
This cycling costume pattern comes from the Bikes & Bloomers research project. Pattern #1 is inspired by Alice Bygrave’s 1895 patent #17,145. It is a long A-line skirt with an innovative pulley system sewn into the front and rear central seams. The concealed mechanism is made of stitched channels, threaded cords, weighted hems and button holes. The wearer activates the pulley system and converts the skirt by pulling cords at the waist, which adjusts the skirt to the required height.
