Abstraction
Andrews, Jorella G.. 2019. 'Abstraction'. In: Philosophy and Painting: Sharing Concepts. University of Tel Aviv, Israel 23 December 2019. [Conference or Workshop Item]
No full text availableAbstract or Description
An exploration of relationships between abstraction, including painterly abstraction, and problem solving in situations that are particularly opaque and in which it is not at all clear how best to proceed. The approach taken is phenomenological, with the work of the French twentieth-century philosopher of embodiment and ambiguity, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, playing a guiding role.
