This essay is an account of the research, development and filming process for the 12 screen, synchronised video installation ‘Motion Path’. 'Motion Path' was commissioned by The De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill and funded by a Film London research award (2005) and was filmed in four of Erich Mendelsohn's pre-war public buildings. It was shown as a solo exhibition at the De La Warr Pavillion 8 April-2 July 2006, alongside the touring exhibition 'Erich Mendelsohn: Dynamics and Function - Realised Visions of a Cosmopolitan Architect' curated by The Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations), Berlin. In the book, 'Media and Urban Space: Understanding, Investigating and Approaching Mediacity', international and interdisciplinary research, projects and considerations about the emerging 'Mediacity' are presented. Contributions from scientists, artists, and architects from 14 different countries analyze, research and creatively approach the cultural, social, political, and economical phenomena of the encounter between media and urban space.
Papers from the Mediacity . Media and Urban Space Conference, Bauhaus University, Weimer, Germany, November 10-12, 2006.
