The presentation will look at the ways conflict can manifest itself in small group interactions. The focus will be on group tendencies outlined in the work of psychoanalyst Wildfred Bion (1897–1979). The role of the unconscious in group interactions in relation to Bion's theories will be discussed alongside examples. Thoughts will be shared on what lessons we can learn from an awareness of these dynamics in the context of leading teams.
