Abstract or Description

The relationship between major international cinema and the literary genre of poetry has been little researched. Two of the most important directors of contemporary cinema, Jim Jarmusch (born in 1953) and Abbas Kiarostami (1940-2016), have repeatedly worked with poetry in their films or even made them the subject of their films. Using the example of the work of Jarmusch and Kiarostami, the anthology examines how lyrical structures, gestures and traditions are implemented on the screen and thereby develop their own cinematic dynamic.
