The chapter explores how an absolute attention to vision and perception connects writer and dramatist Samuel Beckett and sculptor Alberto Giacometti, evident in the taut attenuated figures that people their work, in the constrained spaces that contain their subjects, and in the uncompromising directness of their engagement with us, the viewer.
