Abstract or Description

Helena Reckitt chaired this discussion on the use of Sci-Fi and speculative futures to deconstruct and appropriate new power relationships against the divide in the so-called ‘other’, in terms of gender and race, with artists Victoria Sin and Tai Shani.

The panel followed a screening of work by Kenneth Anger, Jordan Baseman, Derek Jarman, Victoria Sin, Jenna Sutela, and Su Hui-Yu. Through the scope of narratives and genre ranging from art, youtube mash-up to music videos, the screening aimed to raise issues of displacement, boundary-breaking, otherness and post-gender.

The programme was curated as part of the nomadic curatorial platform A- - -Z by Anne Duffau.
