"To Make Love is to Re-create Ourselves Over and Over Again: A Love Poem for Audre" is a performative invocation for Audre Lorde's essay "Poetry is not a Luxury". This performance was both a reading of Lorde's piece as a call to black women to recognise that poetry is much more than wordplay, its beauty, it's articulation, it's imagination and as such a necessity for living and knowing yourself and as an improvisational response in words, sounds and rituals. This performance was created to accompany the installation "To Make Love is to Re-create Ourselves Over and Over Again: A Soliloquy to Heartbreak" created for the exhibition "UNTITLED: Art on the conditions of our time." (10 July – 3 October 2021). It was presented at the online opening of the exhibition and was followed by a conversation between Barby Asante and Writer and Researcher Lola Olufemi.
