Abstract or Description

Join Guy Stevenson, lecturer in English and American literature, to hear how the history of twentieth century avant gardes can help us understand the Alt Right. In recent years, he argues, a new kind of counterculture has emerged in America, one that rejects political correctness and aims to free young minds from the "tyranny of the left". How has radical conservatism become the rebellious, "cool" position? What does this movement - headed by a disparate bunch of internet personalities - have in common with earlier countercultures? How can we use that to move beyond outrage and devise productive ways of responding?
