Abstract or Description

Technology adoption is crucial for productivity and growth and is thus an important priority for the UK government in delivering its growth mission.

On 17 December 2024, the Government launched a call for evidence to review the barriers businesses face when adopting both established and novel technologies, building from existing analysis, industry insights, and the AI Opportunities Action Plan. The consultation is due by 14 February 2025.

The document attached sets out Dr Aysem Diker Vanberg's response with regards to the questions posed by the Government. This response concentrates on technology adoption in the UK’s creative industries and highlights structural and regulatory barriers that contribute to the UK's lower ranking in technology adoption compared to some OECD countries, particularly Germany and Estonia.
