Abstract or Description

'Bodies of Sound: Becoming a Feminist Ear' (Silver Press, 2024) is an anthology that explores sound and listening through a feminist lens of the body: histories and politics come together with sound and listening in the body; it is the body that struggles and survives, listens and speaks, and in which emotions are triggered.

Join editors Irene Revell and Sarah Shin, and contributors Sara Ahmed, Hannah Catherine Jones and Holly Pester, for an event exploring how sonic experience intervenes across gender, ways of knowing, witnessing, sounding and voicing, translation, displacement, violence and peace.

Introduced and hosted by Irene Revell and Sarah Shin; readings from the book by Holly Pester and Sara Ahmed; panel discussion with Hannah Catherine Jones, Sara Ahmed and Holly Pester chaired by Irene Revell and Sarah Shin; performance by the Chiron Choir led by Hannah Catherine Jones.
