Abstract or Description

During this talk and panel discussion Lloyd Corporation (Ali Eisa & Sebastian Lloyd Rees) presented their large-scale project Naked City and discussed their experiences as artists in residence in the city of Haarlem. The presentation gave insights into the research process for Naked City, including the numerous city walks conducted by the artists in Haarlem, Amsterdam and Rotterdam across 2 research residencies. The presentation then describes the creative and production process for developing Naked City, first as a large-scale drawing and then as a site-specific installation that was displayed publicly at De Egalantier. During the panel discussion Lloyd Corporation made critical reflections on the city and public space in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, the conflicts and contradictions between centre and periphery in the city, and the artistic methodologies for exploring these socio-economic and political dynamics through the collection and repurposing of found objects such as street notices.

This afternoon, we'll talk with artists about their work, their position in, and their perspective on the city, based on their personal selections of film and video fragments. A side program for the exhibition "Blik op Haarlem" (View of Haarlem) at the Frans Hals Museum. Invited speakers include: Ben Plummer, Kazuma Eekman, Lloyd Corporation (Ali Eisa & Sebastian Lloyd Rees), Lyobov Matyunina.
