Item Type:

Show/Exhibition
Creators: Zimmer, Robert and Shoben, Andrew
Abstract or Description:

The work consists of five rubbish bins and four benches, each equipped with sensors, motors and wheels, and (in some cases) audio output. They roam freely in the public square, and interact with each other and with users of the space. Each bin or bench has its own personality (with develops over time) and motivations - if it's raining a bench may decide to park up under a tree waiting for someone to sit on it; whilst on a Wednesday the bins will line up waiting to be emptied. Occasionally, they burst into song with the bins forming a baritone barbershop quintet and the benches a high soprano choir.
