Abstract or Description

This is a collection of essays on art, some previously published, others not so. The aim of the different essays is to provide a better understanding of the ways in which art exposes itself to criticism and theory, or to the prevailing cultural jargon, but also of the ways in which it is exhibited in public spaces such as museums. Shorter texts on artists such as Antoni Tapies, Elizabeth Presa and Sarah Schumann are included as well. The general thesis of the book reads as follows: Art that wishes to resist its fetishisation in museums and its reification in culture needs to pursue an erasure of traces, a paradoxical task, since the active pursuit of an erasure of traces seems to constitute itself a further trace.
