Abstract or Description:

MOT is the primary ongoing research project of Chris Hammond. Between 2002 and 2006 MOT became known as one of London’s most interesting and successful young independent project spaces, with ground-breaking exhibitions such as Russian Doll in 2003 and I Am The Wrath Of God in 2004, bringing internationally acclaimed artists to show in a small artist run space in East London. It was Founded by artist and curator, Chris Hammond and it went on to show the work of over 150 artists, including Martin Kippenberger, Rodney Graham, Mike Kelley, Paul McCarthy, Franz West, Lawrence Weiner, Martin Creed, Liam Gillick, Jeff Koons, Louise Lawler, Dennis Oppenheim, Christopher Wool, Stephen Willats, Ben Nicholson, Sarah Lucas, Mark Wallinger, Simon Patterson, Matthew Higgs, Jon Thompson, Jeremy Deller, Rachel Harrison, Runa Islam, Mark Titchner, Omer Fast, Derek Jarman, John Heartfield and Gardar Eide Einarsson. MOT attracted an International audience with many of its exhibitions receiving reviews in art magazines and national newspapers. In 2006 MOT became MOT INTERNATIONAL, adopting the model of a contemporary art gallery representing important emerging and established UK and international artists. Building on the successful history of the project space, the gallery continues to to push at the frontiers of exhibition making, working with young artists and curators to produce a challenging and significant programme.
