Abstract or Description

The aim of the visit, which was organised by Helena Reckitt under the aegis of the Feminist Duration Reading Group, together with Gabrielle Moser from the Emilia-Amalia Feminist Working Group in Toronto, was to meet feminist colleagues from the Libreria delle Donna and the Women’s Free University, and to attend the major group exhibitions 'The Unexpected Subject: 1978 Art and Feminism in Italy' and ‘Vetrine di Libertà’, along with several exhibitions by important feminist artists.

The itinerary encompassed visits to the following:

Women’s Free University, breakfast meeting with members and visit to their cultural and educational centre

Libreria delle donne di Milano (Circolo della Rossa), Discussion Prostituzione: né sesso, né lavoro, followed by group dinner, Libreria delle donne di Milano

The Unexpected Subject: 1978 Art and Feminism in Italy, FM Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea
