Abstract or Description: | This work forms part of an ongoing investigation into the text or performance score. Specifically I am interested in their empowering potential to destabilise authorship, temporality and originality from a feminist perspective. Negotiating with the Dead: A self-help programme for composers is an original instruction score inspired by the Margaret Atwood text of the same name. Written in the summer of 2014, it was published in Issue 12 of the independent magazine Structo. The absurdity and impossibility of the performance instructions were first 'realised' live in Autumn 2014 with props including a mic and amp, a ten pound note, a pen, a battery powered record player and selection of 7” records, and a bag of marshmallows.
