Abstract or Description

Sonic Notes invites you to explore the links between sound, acoustics and wellbeing at this unique workshop, led by artist and academic John Drever.

The sounds that we live with and hear in our environment contribute to our well-being in both positive and negative ways. Sound affects us all and is ever-present, especially in large cities like London. It can be a source of great joy, lifting our spirits or highly irritating, making the world more difficult to comprehend. Lend us your ears in this workshop and decipher the psychological and physiological responses we have to everything from music to noise pollution.

All are welcome to this workshop held at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, which aims to bring together voices from across the hospital community. We look forward to hearing the unique experiences of patients and perspectives from medical staff, together with input from artists, musicians and the local community. It is hoped that discussions such as this will advance the cause for accessible soundscape design in public spaces that embraces the spectrum of hearing that humanity has to offer.
