Abstract or Description: | Since evaluating his critically-acclaimed solo show 'Wot? No Fish!!', Danny Braverman has been developing 'Dialogue-across-Difference', a dramaturgical framework designed for theatre-makers, scholars and students. Initially envisaged to inform theatre-making processes, it is now also being used for performance analysis and to evaluate participatory experiences. Inspired by the research of marketing agency Morris Hargreaves MacIntyre, 'Dialogue-across-Difference' explores the combination of the social, educational, emotional and spiritual dimensions to performance experiences. The over-arching aim of this research strand is to explore ways that performance experiences can bring together people from different backgrounds and experiences. The framework has been used to inform Braverman's own theatre-making as Director of Nick Cassenbaum's 'Bubble Schmeisis', Writer of the youth musical 'Something Inside So Strong' and Co-writer/Director of Nick Cassenbaum's 'My Kind of Michael'. It has now been the subject of a number of papers and articles, as well as the foundation for a performance analysis framework and a participatory performance evaluation tool. |
