| Abstract or Description: | This is a commercially released album, documenting seven pieces across two hours of music that comprise my collection of compositions for large group of improvisers, 'Micromotives'. This is as much a method of communicating information around the ensemble as it is a collection of musical materials and allows the ensemble to compose collectively in real-time whilst giving individuals the kinds of freedoms they might usually find in small group free improvisation. Pieces are performed by my ensemble Union Division (10-13 players on these recordings) across two live performances. |
