Abstract or Description

In this Audio Developer Conference-X talk, Matthew Yee-King describes his journey through music technology as a music practitioner, researcher and educator. He discusses the pedagogical approach he has developed for his book 'Build AI-enhanced audio plugins with C++' by grounding it in this experience as a developer and educator. He presents a series of examples of research audio software, then explains how those projects have inspired or directly led to the examples in the book. The demos include genetic algorithm powered sound synthesis, neural network controlled sound synthesis, autonomous musical improvisers and neural audio effects. He describes the development workflow he has developed for his teaching which is based around a CMake/ JUCE/ C++ development toolchain.
