Abstract or Description

Responding to the sense of "lessness" announced by the curators of the 2008 Whitney Biennial, the movement towards the “unmonumental” signalled by the New Museum show of that name, and the Carnegie International's focus on “life on Mars”, this panel discussion considered the feeling of fragility or delicacy haunting the art world. Speakers reflected on the cautious awareness among artists and curators of the fragile state of art, culture, history and the planet itself.

Speakers were Vancouver artist Gareth Moore, Toronto curator Helena Reckitt, and Montreal curator John Zeppetelli. Canadian Art editor Richard Rhodes moderated.
