Abstract or Description

This book addresses the ways in which languages education has changed in recent years to take account of the growing global phenomenon of multilingualism, and examines the implications for education research, policy and practice. The authors discuss how multilingual identities and competences can be valued in schools, how multilingualism can serve to construct a sense of belonging to one or more groups, and how, through multilingualism, social cohesion and justice for all can be promoted. With contributions from researchers and practitioners from across the globe, the book examines the possibilities, opportunities, challenges and potential of the multilingual turn, presenting different perspectives on theories and classroom practices.
