 Explore theories of language development and what is meant by knowledge about language;
 Debate the position of teaching and learning about language in the subject English;
 Critically engage with the ongoing discussion around standard and non-standard English usage in the English classroom;
 Develop knowledge about language and pedagogical practices, particularly in relation to teaching grammar;
 Explore a pedagogy of multiliteracies and the kind of pedagogical practices that can support the language development of pupils with English as an Additional Language
