Item Type:

Composition
Creators: Kirby, Jenn
Abstract or Description:

Composition for violin, sensor and electronics.
Throughout the collaborative process, this piece underwent several iterations, exploring various methods of conveying musical concepts that intertwine music and movement as communications of the body. While it resists dissecting musical ideas into explicit notational instructions, it does fragment and entangle and disentangle. The work encompasses both live and pre-recorded elements, employing a Mugic device to capture movement and shape the pre-recorded component. Themes of non-linearity and fragmentation are central throughout the piece, guiding the listener through an exploration of interconnectedness and departure.

Body movement tracking was used as a method of notation, where full-body movement as performance actions are notated.
