Abstract or Description

Friday 26 March 2021, marked 50 years since the independence of Bangladesh. Newham Council marked this significant occasion by hosting an online webinar to explore and celebrate the intertwined histories of British Bangladeshi communities and their contributions to the wider socio-cultural scene of British life.

The webinar featured the following high profile and inspirational guest speakers:

• Dr Aminul Hoque MBE
• Dr Farzana Hussain
• Mumzy Stranger
• Nadia Ali
• Syed Ahmed
• Ramzan Miah
• Nasima Begum aka Nasima Bee
• Mizanur Rahman aka Mizan the Poet

The event was hosted by Piali Das Gupta, Director of Policy and Communications at the London Borough of Newham.
