Abstract or Description

The Illusion of Pure Music is a short autobiographical reflection examining the experience of listening to music. Real world conditions mean that sound is always modified by space, memory, and context. To our senses, broadcast music is simply part of a sonic landscape where it co-exists with other sounds in the environment. The author suggests strategies for listening that incorporate these intersections into musical experience.
